“Come to Uganda!”

This is a 2-part article. Tap Fulfilling Kingdom Assignments in the Marketplace for a report on serving Archippuses in Dubai. 

This was something Juuko Dennis, our partner in Uganda, had been asking Henson to do so for a while. So, after much discussion and planning, an Archippus Awakening Singapore team (AASG) was assembled. We planned to fly to Uganda via Dubai, allowing us to spend time with our partners in Dubai on the way there and back.

The plan was to spend time in Uganda from 2nd to 8th April, training the team there, and then holding a 2-day conference before flying to Dubai to conduct a marketplace seminar on 9th April and then heading back to Singapore on 10th April 2025.

It would be a packed trip as everyone wanted to make the most of the time in both countries. 

AASG was made up of Henson, Susheel, Elaine, Yeen Peng and Serene. We were joined by Steve, who flew from Dubai from 3rd to 5th April. All of us were first-timers to Uganda. 

2nd April 2025

The first stop was Kampala, Uganda. Praise God that it was a smooth flight with 4 of us blessed with bulkhead seats, even though the seats were randomly assigned.

We were warmly greeted by the AAKO-Uganda* team and our first important assignment was to EAT! We were brought to CJ’s at Victoria Mall for dinner and to buy bottled water.  And then we headed to Nican Resort Hotel for a much-needed shower and sleep.

FUN FACT 1: Ugandan hotels have no lifts! So we had to climb up and down the stairs at least twice daily! Thankfully, the staff hauled our huge luggage up for us. 

3rd April 2025

Work begins behind the scenes. AASG met with AAKO-Uganda team members for training, discussions and information exchange. 

The message of Archippus Awakening remains consistent: to awaken the saints to fulfil their God-given kingdom assignments. However, how it is conveyed and implemented will differ due to culture, personalities, and challenges. 

The exchange deepened our understanding of each other and grew our relationship in ways that an online meeting can’t. 

We ended the day by heading to Harvest for Christ Church to meet Pastors Paul and Ben and to set up the necessary equipment, ensuring that we would be ready to start the AAA Conference the next day. 

FUN FACT 2: Ugandans serve gizzards cooked in tomato sauce and spices for breakfast.

AAA UGANDA Conference Day 1 – 4th April

We were slightly daunted when we woke up to rain. March to May is the rainy season in Uganda. But God was gracious, and the skies cleared so that the participants could still make it to the Conference, albeit slightly late. 

Behind the scenes, many were serving the larger body of Christ by mopping the muddy floors to keep the church clean and cooking huge pots of food to feed the participants breakfast with milk tea and a hearty lunch of matoke, sweet potatoes, plantain, rice and chicken wrapped in banana leaves.

The session started with a rousing worship session led by Margaret Nantumbwe (Margie), who would also be the translator for the 2-day conference. Part of AAKO-Uganda, this lady is most certainly gifted by God. And we’re blessed to get to work with her. 

Day 1 of the conference saw Henson introducing Archippus to our Ugandan brothers and sisters and challenging them to start seeing themselves as soldiers in the Lord’s army. The sessions were interspersed with Archippian Stories by David Victor from AAKO-Uganda and Steve Senar from AAKO-UAE. We ended the day with a time of Questions & Answers.

And then it was back to the hotel to decompress and rest, so that we can be recharged for Day 2.

FUN FACT 3: Most roads are not paved which meant that there was mud everywhere when the rainy season hits Uganda. And yet, inside the Church you hardly saw any muddy footprints. This was because they had assigned people to diligently keep mopping the floors!

AAA UGANDA Conference Day 2 – 5th April

We were met with more rain on Day 2 of the conference. It rained the entire night, and it continued to rain when we arrived at Harvest for Christ Church. It was a very muddy affair. And yet the participants turned up! Praise the Lord that they were not deterred.

As Henson covered STAYING AWAKE and WHAT’S IN A NAME, he also reminded the people of the urgency of the times. It is crucial that we are awakened, aligned and assigned for the Lord and not asleep or distracted. 

After the sharing of Archippian Stories by Margie and Yeen Peng, Juuko Dennis, the lead member for AAKO-Uganda, took the opportunity to share Say To Archippus Processing (STAP) with the participants to encourage them to take the next “STAP” now that they have heard the awakening message. It will be led by the AAKO-Uganda team so that they can apply this message to the local body of Christ.

The Conference ended with Henson challenging all to FINISH the RACE and GO FOR GOLD.

Then we all gathered for a group photo and AASG was prayed for and blessed by our Ugandan friends. Cliché as it sounds, as we brought the message of Archippus Awakening to bless them we’ve been greatly blessed in return. All glory to God!

FUN FACT 4: Umbrellas are a rare sight in Uganda, even though it was the rainy season. All they seem to need is a hoodie.

Ugandan Sunday Services – 6th April

AASG had the privilege of attending the Sunday service at Eden Miracle Ministries, preaching at Harvest for Christ (Henson) and at Freedom Sanctuary (Susheel).

It was a very productive (and long) morning. We ended up having our team lunch at the hotel at almost 3:30pm!

But there was still work for Henson and Susheel as they met with Ps Joseph of Eden Miracle Ministries and learnt how he had slowly but surely built up his church over the years. Then we met for dinner before gratefully retiring for the night.

FUN FACT 5: Regardless of the church we attended, each worship set was a full-blown affair with wholehearted dancing and singing by the worship team as well as the congregation. 

Post conference, AASG and AAKO-Uganda re-gathered at the hotel to finish our discussion and to conduct a debrief – what went well, what did not, how we could improve and what possible steps can be taken in the days ahead to share the Archippus Awakening message to the rest of the country.

We ended the day by heading to Serena Hotel for a celebratory buffet dinner to give thanks to God for seeing us through, and to appreciate and honour one another. And then it was goodbye to our friends and fellow soldiers at AAKO-Uganda as Team SG flew off to Dubai the next day.
