Beyond the Books

Before MAP – Awakened!

Having been a stay-at-home mother for eight years now, I have often felt my motherhood journey a lonely one. I merely went about my daily tasks like I was completing the routines. With no clear direction, I felt aimless and had no idea what my assignment was.

Then I was presented with two books, “Say To Archippus” and “Alignment Check”, by Pastor Henson Lim. After reading the books, I was awakened to God’s message that He has a kingdom assignment for each and every one of us. In fact, He is raising an army of anonymous ones, like Archippus who is mentioned only twice in Colossians 4:17 and Philemon 2, from the ground up and inviting us to align with Him and be assigned for His kingdom purposes. The person of Archippus is obscure and almost anonymous, and I could definitely identify with him!

I spent time seeking the Lord and during one quiet time with Him, the Lord prompted me to take a look at the Archippus Awakening website and my heart skipped a beat when I was led to read about the initiative, the Mentoring Aligning Process (MAP).  A voice urged me to register and I did.

During MAP – Alignment!

At MAP, the participants would be allocated a topic to present to the class, and a divine stroke found myself allocated with the topic “Staying in Community”. Staying in a community – or not doing so – was my biggest misalignment, of which I had a very real struggle.

In fact, when I was reading “Alignment Check”, I had the most unanswered questions during the reading of chapters on staying in a community. Being an introvert and a stay-home-mum, I had successfully pulled myself out of community over the last eight years. In order for me to make a sound presentation, it meant I had to dig deep, be brutally honest about my misalignments and progress from there. Through the preparation and sharing, I was convicted in my heart to get into a community of like-minded people who are serious about their assignment, stay in it, and grow with it.

I also found myself very much encouraged by the heart-felt and sincere sharing from other Archippuses, especially those who have a clear vision of their kingdom assignments. I am inspired by their risk-taking and faith-building attitudes. They do not sit around and wait for things to happen. Instead, when the Lord plants an idea in them, no matter how small or how unequipped they feel, they obey Him and act on it. They take risks, move forward in faith and allow God to put everything else into place.  Having a mentor to journey this season with me has given me a greater sense of accountability and to have someone to go to when I have questions.

After MAP – Assignment!

All my valuable takeaways from MAP would not have been possible had I chosen to stop short at reading the book in the comfort of my own home. I am thankful for the like-minded kingdom connections made with MAPpers. I no longer feel like a headless chicken. I am anything but aimless! Instead of doing nothing, going nowhere, I am starting where I am, with whatever abilities the Lord has given to me, and let Him lead the way ahead.

In this season, my main assignment is still to serve God in my family. What has changed significantly is my perspective to serve Him with a kingdom mindset : to not just watch over the physical and emotional needs of my loved ones but also to awaken them from their spiritual slumber so that they can also be awakened, aligned and assigned for God.

God has also granted a sub-assignment, through a kingdom connection, involving prophetic art and I am filled with excitement and anticipation about this new venture. Certainly, as I focus on the aligning, God will do the assigning.
