My heart stirred. I found myself wanting to know more about what it meant to be awakened and what my assignments are. I was at my local church when I first heard the Archippus Awakening (AA) message at the AAA seminar conducted by Ps Henson and Team Archippus. What captivated me most was the Archippus Affirmation video, where the different traits of an Archippus are portrayed. That was the beginning of my many awakening moments. Without hesitation, I registered for AWE2019 and eventually committed to join the Mentoring Aligning Process (MAP) in September 2020.
As I walked through MAP, I realised my misalignment asking God to confirm my assignment. He needed to make sure that I understand I must first align myself with Him and the Holy Spirit. For without Him, I can accomplish nothing. God used the six-month journey to show me my misalignments. It was also a time of going through a refinement period that God had given to prepare me for my kingdom assignment. As an extrovert, I love to meet people. I had always thought my assignment is out there, but God kept directing me to my assignment at home.
I enjoy meeting people and wanted so much to “awaken” Christians in the marketplace who are in slumber. I was one myself and since being awakened through the AA message and AWEs, I really wanted to help those alike. I was arrogant enough to think that God will find my personality, profession and passion “useful” to Him in the marketplace. However, God’s ways are higher and His plans are not my plans. He had to deal with my pride and arrogance. I have learnt that God does not need my abilities but rather my obedience! He wanted me to focus on my backyard which is my home. He showed me that there are restorations and reconciliations of relationships that matter to Him.
God may not necessarily use my abilities or my desires for an assignment. Afterall, it is a kingdom assignment from my King, so it is all about Him and not me! I quickly learnt too that it is important to have the right perspective of trials and that God will have my back as I work on my assignment. One of the anchor verses the Lord has given me is Isaiah 52:12: For you shall not go out with haste, Nor go by flight; For the Lord will go before you, And the God of Israel will be your rear guard. I also reflected on the Chinese verse of Isaiah 52:12 and realised the Lord Himself wants to be my rear guard, I didn’t have to ask! (For those who understand Chinese: 耶和华要走在你的前面做你们的后盾。- 耶和华 不是会或可能而是他要!)
We all want glory but not the sufferings that come with the glory. Having the right perspective of suffering as a process of refinement is helpful especially in moments when I struggle or fall during my assignments. Finally, I learnt to partner and depend on the Holy Spirit to lead and guide me daily in my assignment. My best expression of love for God is my obedience towards what He calls me to do. I shall go forth partnering with the Holy Spirit, be led, be filled and be aligned! Only when I partner with the Holy Spirit can I be made whole.
Dear Archippus…
Tests and temptations are very much a part of our walk with God and the world we live in. You will face trials, whether you look for them or not. As such, determine to view trials with the right perspective. Henson writes in Alignment Check, “If you desire to be on kingdom assignment, you must be prepared for tests and temptations.”
When we learn to accept these tests graciously, we approach and go through trials differently.
