Serene Lim
Never say never.
Serene said that she would never become a Christian, never get married, never have children and never become a stay-at-home mother. In 1994, she was saved by the grace of God. In 1995, she married Henson who is today, the founder of Archippus Awakening, a ministry dedicated to the awakening of the saints that they may know and fulfil their God-given kingdom assignments. In 1998 she had her first child, in 1999 became a stay-at-home, mother.
Educated in a convent in her first six years of education and then having taken Bible Knowledge as an O level subject and scoring an A1 in it, Serene knew all about the rituals and stories of Christianity. But she was not interested in Jesus nor the things of God. But God had other plans. While attending a membership class at Wesley Methodist Church in order to get married in the Church, gently, the Holy Spirit’s conviction fell upon her as she listened to the story of Creation outlined by Dr Aw Swee Eng. Since then, she has been learning how to walk the walk of faith while raising the 7 children whom the Lord has sent.
After graduation from the National University of Singapore, Serene worked as a feature writer in a local magazine and then moved on to the public relations and advertising industry. However, preferring to be more hands-on in the raising of their then only child, she stopped work in 1999. Soon after the other children came along. And life was hectic. But God still wasn’t done changing her life around.
In 2002, God called Serene to homeschool the children which officially started in 2004. Then in 2006, the Lord prompted Serene to start a blog to encourage and provide practical tips to young Christian wives, especially stay-at-home mothers. You can find her at Building Up Moms.
And still, the Lord isn’t done.
