Pastor Rey Sanico: To Fulfil Our God-given Assignment, We Need to Regularly Check Our Alignment

Coming to AWE2018 at Changi Cove has been an awesome experience.
My wife and I came with an expectation to receive words of guidance in our journey and our assignment from God. There were many issues in our hearts that have distracted us as we pursued our kingdom assignment.
At AWE 2018, God ministered to us in a special way. We understood the importance of being in ALIGNMENT with God. Ps Henson emphasised this: “Focus on the aligning. Let God do the assigning.”

Now it has become clearer to us that as we desire to fulfil our God-given assignment, we need to regularly check our alignment with the Lord, His Word and the Holy Spirit.  The teaching, prophetic words, prayers and fellowship were packed with messages and insights that I am carrying now to bring awakening in my city and region in the Philippines to fulfil her prophetic destiny and assignment.
Thank you Ps Henson and Team Archippus for hosting a life-transforming AWE2018.
Ps Rey & Cecile Sanico

AWE2018 @ Changi Cove Singapore was my first awakening event. I love to see Jesus exalted and His Kingdom expand. My passion is in teaching and leading God’s people. I train pastors, and I equip and mobilise the body of Christ to be actively involved in the Great Commission.

Adrian Chan: I wish I had known about Archippus Awakening much earlier

My family and I had recently relocated back from Bhutan where I served as the Leadership Resource Person in the King’s Office to advise on leadership development in the kingdom.
Archippus Awakening or Pastor Henson Lim were unknown to me until 25 March 2018. I had googled “awakening” and come across his blog. That same day, I immediately signed my wife, Poh Cheng, and myself up for AWE 2018. Realising that there was a book Say To Archippus by Pastor Henson, I emailed him to get a copy.
On the first day of AWE 2018, a total stranger struck up a conversation with me and then offered to pray for me. However, he did not get to pray until the second day. I woke up early for Kingdom Prayer Initiative, and in the evening, my wife and I again bumped into the stranger. Sunny (Thank you brother!) remembered me, and as he prayed, I caught a main point that stuck with me: “Not to be afraid of the release that is to come.”
During the altar call that evening, I was prompted by Olivia to go up to Pastor Henson to be prayed for. I had been happily soaking in the corporate worship, something I truly missed while working in Bhutan. Pastor Henson prayed over me and three things stood out for me from what he prayed: ‘Mouth Piece’, ‘Puts things right’, ‘Share what it means to serve the king’.

What is my assignment? I don’t know yet. I wish I had known about Archippus Awakening much earlier. Just like the ‘ark’ we built in the alignment activity, I am not only a broken vessel running on faulty wheels, I am also the meddlesome pilot not willing to let go of the wheel and allow the Spirit of God to move me as He wishes. Hence I know from AWE 2018 I need to work on my own aligning and allow God to do the assigning. About my own alignment process, there is much refinement and empowerment to be done still. There is much dying to self and much equipping to ensure that I am the right horse for the course (or in Archippus speak, the right stallion for the right stadion).
From today onwards, I put down in my daily task this: “Review and Do my Alignment Check”. What that entails, it will probably differ from day to day, season by season. But it will be a daily tithe of time to be quiet before God, to know the mind and will of the King of kings. I had blogged about the limited time we have on earth. Hence, in my computer, I already have a countdown clock that marks the time I have left till I am 70. Today, I add one more countdown timer marking the day I completed AWE 2018. As it stands now, this second timer reads 15 hours, 42 minutes. The time is ticking towards the final arc. It is time to get up.

I have been prompted to reflect on “awakening” for a while before I decided to google for more information. Lo and behold, I found Pastor Henson’s blog and AWE 2018! I signed up immediately! My family and I recently relocated back from Bhutan, where I spent the last three years serving in the King’s office as the Leadership Resource Person. In serving an earthly king, this experience allowed me to witness the parallels in our service with our King of kings. Now that I have a language and framework to describe my assignment experience in Bhutan, I am looking forward to living out a new awakening, aligning and assigning back here in Singapore.

Awakening Event: Archippuses of Bedok MC Awakened Aligned & Assigned at AWE2018!

In April 2018, the Archippus Awakening message was shared with the women of Bedok Methodist Church at their WSCS Retreat in Malacca. When they learnt about an upcoming Awakening Event over the weekend of 3-5 August where the Alignment Check would be taught in greater detail, they promptly registered for AWE2018.
With eleven of them present at AWE2018 (ten sisters and a brother), they were the largest representation from a single local church that Archippus Awakening has ever hosted at an Awakening Event.
We are so encouraged that these Archippuses are now eager to share with even more Archippuses when they return to their home church. Read their testimonies and takeaways below and give God all praise and glory:
“Dear Ps Henson & Team
Thank you for the awesome AWE2018 weekend. The definition of discipleship you have shared is now crystallised in our minds, and truly that is exactly the life Jesus lived: embracing difficulties, suffering and death, denying self and obeying the Father. Jesus completed His task well to receive His reward, sitting at the right hand of the throne of God. Indeed, the teachings included a major reorientation of some preconceived and prescribed ideas of what discipleship is. From playing church and programmes to doing kingdom work for the King. From consuming feel-good Christian preaching to embracing every hard truth in God’s Word. From simply sailing through life to truly running the race that we may receive the reward. Your message from God has indeed challenged us to do as we are assigned, according to His perfect will, with His ongoing empowerment and grace. Thank you once again for being the voice of Jesus, and sharing with us the tools to equip us for our kingdom assignments which is so beautifully summed up in the tagline: focus on the aligning, let God do the assigning.” – Sally Cheong & Evette Tan
“I am now AWAKENED, ALIGNED & ASSIGNED, and totally in AWE of Jesus for anointing Pastor Henson to deliver HIS 1-2-3-4 message! The endtime is near. Let’s wake up other Archippuses and get more people into HIS KINGDOM!” – Mollee Tng
“As an Archippus, I am a disciple of Christ. I am to know the Person of Christ and not just know about Christ. As an Archippus, I embrace the difficulties and challenges in the refinement process. This is discipleship. The alignment activity helped me realise that to run a good race, I must be aligned and re-aligned in order to finish the race and finish it well. I am deeply inspired to apply what I have learned at AWE2018 and I also hope to share the message of Archippus Awakening to awaken as many saints around me as possible. A big Thank You to Ps Henson and the working committee of AWE2018″ – Annie Yeo
“Dear Pastor Henson & Team
Thank you for a wonderful AWE2018 weekend at Changi Cove with like-minded Archippuses. The first time I heard Pastor Henson at a 3-day-2-night retreat, the Archippus Awakening message left me thinking and reflecting on my position in Christ. At AWE 2018, I received much assurance from God as I am about to embark on another assignment. I had said yes to this assignment with fear and reluctance and even regretting it, so it was good to know that Noah had to go through the refinement process (possibly ridicule by others, questioning by loved ones) while obeying God to build the ark, becoming the lineage for Jesus who endured the cross to the end so the whole mankind is saved. AWE 2018 was so well run – not just God’s message delivered by Pastor Henson but almost every segment, be it the 1-2-3-4 quiz on Friday or the alignment activity on Saturday, all served to highlight and bring out the essence of the ONE message so effectively and powerfully to us. My prayer is that as we are being launched into the world following the Adullam assembly at AWE2018 weekend, we will all be found faithful in being the Archippus in our area of influence.” – Chia Koon Hong
“I am an ‘underwhelmed’ soul in need of an awakening in an overwhelmed schedule.  AWE 2018 was a timely wake-up call to review my busyness. I do not want to do so many things and miss out on God ‘s assignments. With a renewed kingdom mindset, I am excited to embark on the journey of discovering what God has in store for me. I am Archippus, looking to doing HIs assignments from a posture of rest and not feeling daunted by the pain that may come with the aligning.” – Neo Lay Tin
“I have never realised how misaligned I was and at AWE 2018, I discovered where my position is. Thank you Ps Henson and Team Archippus. I am now eating and sleeping these three words: awakened, aligned, assigned. There is much to internalise and digest, but I have learnt to do it with regards to God’s kingdom.” – Jovi Low
“With the Archippus Awakeningmessage delivered to me, I recognise that there is much work needed to address my misalignment at where He has assigned me. I received my ‘fellow soldier’ appointment in awe and gratefulness. Thank you Ps Henson and team for all your faithfulness and obedienceto Him in this journey to help us unpack the ‘Build the Arc’ message, and more importantly, to understand His Kingship. I see the sacrifices behind you and the team in order to assemble me back into the Archippus battalion. With much tears and great joy. I am encouraged by all of you.” – Mark Teo, an Archippus falling in.
“Fear and doubt engulf me as I am about to move into a new AO.  Drawing from Ps Henson’s sharing at AWE2018, I learned a lesson from Noah, who aligned with God and responded with obedience when he was asked to build an ark.  As he responded with obedience, he received God’s empowerment. The alignment activity was an awakening experience. I could never imagine myself crawling on the floor on my stomach and blowing the ‘ark’ across the finishing line.  Going forward, there will be challenges, but as long as I stay focussed and move within the lane God assigned to me and with His empowermen,t I will run and win the race. I am thankful I have a community of Archippuses to cheer me on when the going gets tough.  It is my desire to awaken other sleeping Archippuses so they will be AWAKENED, ALIGNED and ASSIGNED.  Thank you Pastor Henson and team for an AWE-some2018.” – Irene Tung

2018: A Year of Prophetic Significance

On 3 August 2018, Archippus Awakening celebrated our 4th Anniversary with an Anniversary Dinner at Changi Cove Singapore.
But why a celebration for the 4th year? Numerically, it does not hold as great a significance as, say, a 5th, 7th, 10th or 40th Anniversary. As I shared with all who came to stand with us that evening: as much as we are thankful for the first four years of Archippus Awakening, it is really the Year 2018 that we are marking…

– 70 years ago in 1948, Israel was reborn. In 2018, the United States of America shifts their embassy to Jerusalem as Israel celebrates her 70th Anniversary.
– 40 years ago, the Rev Dr Billy Graham calls Singapore “the Antioch of Asia”. 2018 closes this cycle and opens another as the Singapore Church finds a fresh expression to this prophetic responsibility amidst a very different regional and global landscape.
– 18 years ago in 2000, the Lord invited me with two words that changed the entire course of my life. It would be three cycles of 18 years as I turn 54 in 2018. A new cycle begins.
– 14 years ago, I stepped out into full-time ministry on 1 January 2004, after 14 years in the marketplace. Interestingly, I was 14 years old when I was rostered to serve at the Billy Graham Crusade.
There seems to be a culmination of events in 2018, as if signalling a new move of God in these last days.
Against this backdrop, Archippus Awakening was birthed on 3 August 2014 four years ago. And if I am right to observe the prophetic significance of 2018, then Archippus Awakening is merely plugging into all the Lord has been doing, and will be doing in the days ahead.
In the 1st year, the Lord’s word to me was sow (Psalm 126:5). The next year, He promised to give rain for the seed (Isaiah 30:23). Then came the word of validation from Numbers 17:8 as we witnessed buds and blossoms in the 3rd year. In January 2018, the word of fruit came from Leviticus 19:23-24 that “in the fourth year all its fruit shall be holy, a praise to the Lord.”
I knew in my spirit that 2018 would be a time of consecration as we praise the Lord for all He has done, and also look forward to the next year – the 5th year. How exciting that Leviticus 19:25 should declare, “And in the fifth year you may eat its fruit, that it may yield to you its increase: I am the Lord your God.”

That Friday night, 3 August 2018, at the 4th Anniversary Dinner, we gave thanks and praise the Lord for His grace and faithfulness over the four years. It was indeed very heartening that fellow ministers and friends made special effort to be present to celebrate with us. Over the weekend of 3-5 August, AWE2018 served as a symbolic consecration of 124 Archippuses who made special effort to assemble at the 3D2N Awakening Event with one common desire to be awakened, aligned and assigned.

AWE2018 Photo Album on Facebook

Recognising the prophetic significance of 2018, in anticipation of what God is going to do in and through Singapore, in the region and around the world, Archippus Awakening is prepared for the increase that is to come (whatever that means, in whatever form) as we cross from the 4th year into the 5th year.
Going forward, I still don’t know what the Lord has in store for Archippus Awakening. My part is to remain obedient and faithful to the message He has given to me to declare.
I am so thankful that along the way, He has brought many others to support me and to co-labour with me. I want to honour these brothers and sisters in Christ who give and serve sacrificially, totally content to remain nameless and faceless – Archippuses – for the sake of Jesus and His kingdom.
And as more doors are opened and opportunities are presented, we stand ready to meet these new challenges wholly relying on the Lord and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. Moving into the 5th year, we sense that it is time to boldly build an assembly of Archippuses held together by vision and kingdom purpose.

But who is Archippus? What does an Archippus stand for? How does one who identifies as an Archippus live? To answer these questions, we launched a 3min video of the “Archippus Affirmation” at the Anniversary Dinner. I hope that the above video will inspire you to join the movement, to #buildthearc with us, and to proudly and boldly declare #iamarchippus as you seek to live awakened, aligned and assigned for Jesus and His kingdom.
To God be all praise and glory!

Awakening Event: All Saints Presbyterian Church Camp 8-10 June 2018

After sharing a series of awakening messages at All Saints Presbyterian Church (ASPC) in 2017, I was invited to be the speaker for their 2018 camp. Together with the leadership, we decided on the theme: ALIGNMENT.
When I shared this ministry engagement with Archippus Awakening’s prayer team, the Lord prompted Christopher and Priscilla Krishnasamy to join me at this camp. Their assignment was extremely precise: to pray for me and ASPC.
Leading up to the camp, we met with the leaders to discuss and better understand the needs of ASPC. This helped me prepare for the sessions and provided us better focus as we prayed for this assignment.
At the camp, we were encouraged to connect with more Archippuses from ASPC (Jelin, Lindsay, Jennifer & May). The Lord sent reinforcement!

From left: Jelin, Lindsay, Esther, Priscilla, Jennifer, May, Christopher, Henson.

Over three days (8-10 June) at Forest City Phoenix Hotel, I introduced the Alignment Check to ASPC, sharing the aspects of Alignment, Refinement, Empowerment and Assignment, and challenging all to focus on the aligning and allow God to do the assigning.

We give God all praise and glory for the positive response to the message, both individually and corporately! I count it a privilege to be able to speak into the life of a local church, to feature in a small part of what the Lord will do in and through them.

Here are some key takeaways from ASPC members:
“I thank Ps Henson for helping me to see that God is bringing me through a Refinement process and that He is in control. I am personally in a challenging period of transition and while I am out of my comfort zone I take these words to heart, ‘Focus on the Aligning and God will do the Assigning’. Trying to understand the will of God for my life, I am often led to do things that I am not comfortable with and is not my strength but Ps Henson reminds us that God can show His glory through our weaknesses as He empowers us through His Spirit. There was a time when I was going through a dry season in church when the scriptures seemed to be merely words but I thank God that I found a community of ‘kingdom subjects’ in church, outside church and in business that manifested the Word with power, love and hope in daily living. And it is through this Refinement process that I am challenged to bring comfort to the Christians I meet who are themselves discouraged due to unanswered prayer and struggles in their lives. It is only by Aligning and staying close to God as we continue to believe in His promises in the Word that we can survive in this world of challenges and negativity.” Jelin Tan
“I learnt that it is through the process as we Repent and are Restored and Refined for God’s Kingdom purposes that we are empowered by God’s Spirit like how a parched ground is empowered by springs to give new growth and life. I believe that the dryness of God’s prophetic word will give way to springs of living water as we actively seek to Align to God individually and corporately. Instead of dryness, there will be an abundance of water to nourish new growth. “And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.” Isaiah 35:7 KJV A word of Hope for our church. Let us learn to pray the Kingdom and be hungry enough to fast forward His purposes!” David Saw
“‘Focus on the Aligning, Let God do the Assigning!’ That put a name to the problem I had been facing! I didn’t realise that I had fallen into the common trap of feeling a false sense of fulfilment from being busy for God, doing many Christian activities, yet still feeling a sense of spiritual dryness inside. The crucial step I had bypassed was the Alignment. Now I’m increasingly aware of spending more time seeking God first and waiting for His leading before I fill my hands with good things to do.” Choo Li Min
“I thank God for Ps Henson being an Archippus carrying out his Kingdom assignment in the Church. As he constantly mentions, he is not teaching anything new, it’s all there in the Bible! But as he arranges the ideas and paints the picture, it becomes clearer what this calling to follow Christ entails for us, as individual children of God and as a community of faith. Through his teaching I became more aware of the tension of being ‘Almost Anonymous but known by name’ that resided within me. In a generation fuelled by social media and social insecurity, it is truly outstanding for Christians to be at once boldly confident in our identity in Christ as well as humbly secure to carry out our assignments without the need to draw attention to ourselves. It is something I grapple with as a leader in the local church but I believe that now that I am Awakened to this, as I focus on Aligning to Christ He will Refine and Empower me through His Spirit that I may carry out my Assignment with Influence for Him.” Shawn Eng

FIFA World Cup 2018: Croatia Wins!

No, I am not prophesying that Croatia will win 🙂
Four years ago, I shared this observation about FIFA World Cup 2014:

“It’s no longer about individual star players in the likes of Neymar and Messi, talented as these are. It’s about teams whose players are virtually unknown but each functioning well in their positions and assignments. The days of spiritual superstars are coming to an end. God is raising up Archippuses, men and women who are almost anonymous yet each known by Him by name. These will be awakened to take to the field, to rout the enemy, to advance the kingdom of God.”

You can read the post “FIFA World Cup 2014: A Wake-Up Call for the Church” here.
This year, the World Cup seemed to follow a similar pattern. Except this time, the focus was not so much on individuals, but nations.
From the start, the traditional household names of football struggled to get through to the next round. When some of these began losing matches, I began noticing this pattern. I had wanted to write something about it, but was unable to owing to a heavy ministry schedule. That worked out well as it allowed me to observe more, to see if the pattern continued.
Germany, the defending champions, didn’t make it past the Group Stage. By the quarter-finals, only France, Uruguay and England remained.  Then came the shocker in the semi-finals – Croatia beats England 2-1 to get to their first ever World Cup Final!
I can’t help but wonder if there is a message hidden somewhere within this pattern. Firstly, it is no longer about superstars. And now, a little-known nation makes football history!
Could this be yet another Archippian wake-up call for the Church? It is no longer about the spiritual superstars. The Lord is awakening His saints from the ground up. What’s more, it is also not about brand-name churches! If Archippuses are awakened, aligned and assigned in every congregation, then every church– large or small, mega or micro – will be activated for the purposes of His kingdom. And that’s not all. This principle applies to nations too. In the days ahead, the smaller, the lesser known, and even the unknown nations will feature more and more in God’s plans!
All said, whether nation or churches, it is the saints who know and fulfil their kingdom assignments that make all the difference.
I love this comment in the article “Just 4.2m people, but Croatia makes football history“:

“Croatia’s place in the World Cup is not the natural conclusion of an intelligent, long-term project … It was simply down to the players who did not stop running, even when their bodies were screaming at them to stop, even when they could not catch their breath.”

Perhaps the Church has something to learn from Croatia’s football team. It is not the size of the building, the efficiency of the church staff, the range of programmes and activities, the best sound & lights, the tightness of a worship band, how entertaining the sermons (and preachers) are. It is men and women of God who know their assignments, who run all out for Jesus in their races, “even when their bodies [are] screaming to stop, even when they could not catch their breath.”
Thanks, Croatia, for showing us what it means to press on, to go for gold, to do whatever it takes to win the prize. We wish you the very best as you take on France tonight (11pm, Singapore time).
I will most definitely be cheering you on. Whatever the result, in my heart, you have already won!

Why Knowing Your Kingdom Assignment Matters

Everyone loves new things. And the marketing industry knows it all too well. Just look at all the advertising headlines and see if this isn’t so … New! Fresh! Improved! The Latest!
Even in Christian circles, one of the most favourite verses must be Isaiah 43:19 – “Behold, I will do a new thing …” Indeed, our God is a God of new beginnings and of fresh encounters. However, when interpreted through today’s consumeristic lens, it is all too easy to miss the context of what this passage actually says. As a result, this verse is often used as a marketing ploy for the next Christian activity, as a seasoned marketeer would, to bait, to entice, to attract.
But is God really doing a new thing? Or are we simply of such short attention span and so quickly bored these days that we need to make it appear as if God is doing a new thing?
Take my kingdom assignment in Archippus Awakening as an example. It’s been the same message since Day One, and continues to be so. I don’t know how many times I have declared it (lost count). All I know is that it remains relevant and I am still to share it whenever the Lord opens the door and presents the opportunity.

Bukit Panjang Methodist Church Leadership Retreat

Honestly, it is tiring. And, having shared it over and over again, I do get a little bored with myself. (How many times can I tell the same jokes?) In the past weeks, it’s been the same message of Archippus Awakening at Bukit Panjang Methodist Church’s Leadership Retreat (27-28 May 2018), All Saints Presbyterian Church Camp (8-10 June 2018) and Paya Lebar Chinese Methodist Church’s Contemporary Service Retreat (14-17 June 2018). And in the next weeks? … you guessed it! … Archippus Awakening!
All Saints Presbyterian Church Camp

That said, the Lord has not given any new instruction; and so, I plod on. By His grace, although it seems old to me, it is new to those who are hearing it for the first time and God moves powerfully in their hearts! And this, I have experienced, over and over again, to the glory of the Lord. Clearly, it is not about what I think or how I feel at all. My part is to remain obedient and faithful to what the Lord has assigned to me!
Paya Lebar Chinese Methodist Church Contemporary Service Retreat

Too often, and for too many, believers are looking for the next new thing. We are easily distracted and quickly bored with what we have heard or already know. This is why it is important to know our kingdom assignments. If not, we will always need more and more Christian activities to keep us occupied. And even worse, we expect these to be highly creative that we may be constantly engaged, that Christianity would be fun and entertaining!
Make no mistake! God is not here to serve my soulish desires and satisfy my fleshly cravings. On the contrary, I have been redeemed with the precious blood of King Jesus that I may be set free from sin, to serve Him and the purposes of His kingdom. God forbid that I be so influenced by today’s consumeristic culture that I pick and choose what I’d like to do or not do, based on how I feel.
This is why knowing our kingdom assignments matters. True fulfilment is found, not in what is new or novel, but when we fulfil that which we have received from the Lord.

And say to Archippus, “Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord that you may fulfil it.” Colossians 4:17

The Believer's Conference Survival Guide

All Christians in Singapore know this statement to be true:

“There is no shortage of conferences and seminars in our sunny island state!”

Hardly a day goes by without us receiving an email, announcement or invitation to hear the most anointed speakers, to tap into the prophetic realm, to have the most powerful encounter, to experience the biggest breakthrough, to see the most unusual miracles, or to receive the latest download from heaven!
Truth be told, as interesting and promising as these may sound, many of us are experiencing conference fatigue. After a while, we realise that much of this is marketing and advertising language (take it from an ex-adman). This is not to say that such offerings are not good or needful. However, regardless how fantastic a meeting is touted to be or reported to have been, one must question its effectiveness beyond the registration numbers and post-publicity campaigns. Yes, intellects were provoked and emotions were stirred. Then what?
For sure, it cannot be the presentation. After all, these are the world’s best, the most sought after, supported by platinum album worship leaders with extremely impressive lights and sound. Perhaps, then, it is the posture of our hearts we must examine.
Hence, as one who has also attended (and organised) more than a few of such events, this is how I personally navigate and survive the conference jungle out there:
RESIST For starters, don’t go running all over the place, attending every meeting however attractive these may sound to you. I am certain every conference that is organised and offered is good. But the truth is, you don’t have to attend each and every one. Simply, you don’t have all the time and money in the world. And even if you do, you want to be a good steward of these resources. Check your heart if you are simply going to get the next high or that you won’t feel left out when your friends tell you how good it was and what you have missed. Don’t laugh, but this actually requires prayer, discernment, focus and commitment; and for some, sheer strength and will power.
REST & RECEIVE Serial conference participants will find this difficult to achieve as these thrive on the spiritual buzz and highs that conferences offer. Yet, as much as these meetings set out to revive or reignite, don’t be overly concerned with man’s good intentions or at times, soulish methods. Don’t get too caught up with the outward but determine inwardly to rest and to receive. It is ok not to go with an expectation of “I must get something out of this!” Don’t get me wrong for there is still an expectation in your heart – to rest and receive; whenever, whatever, however. When you are truly rested in the Lord, that is when you become sensitive to His still small voice, regardless of the level of the sound system or the hype, ready to receive all He has in store for you.
REMINDERS & RHETORICS Let’s be honest. If you are a regular on the conference circuit, you would have realised that most, if not all, of the principles mentioned are the same – intimacy with God, obedience is better than sacrifice, how much God loves you, His amazing grace, God has a plan for you, etc. Even prophetic utterances are not very much different, seriously. Truly, there is nothing new under the sun. Depending on the posture of your heart, these could easily become rhetoric or they could be great reminders. You could come away thinking you have heard them all and be disappointed for having wasted time and money, or you could be duly prompted by the Holy Spirit to address a certain aspect of your walk. For sure, it is not more teaching we need but we must carefully examine what we are doing with all the information we have acquired.
RHEMA & REVELATION Thankfully, there are times when a gem of an idea or concept shines through. These would be different for different people depending on the situation or season you are in. Some refer to this as a rhema word whilst others may consider it a revelation of sorts. Regardless, it is something that caught your attention enough to make you sit up. Hold on to this nugget. Write it down. Don’t let it flit in and then out too easily. Transfer your notes to your prayer journal so that it can be referred to over and over again, along with other revelations you have received in the past. God never speaks in isolation but consistently through various means and times. The rhema you received at a conference may be significant. But the greater revelationof seeing God at work in your life in totality is by far even more amazing!
REVIEW & REFLECT How easy it is to enjoy the experience and then promptly forget it the moment the conference is over. This explains why people flock from meeting to meeting, hoping to recapture that moment or feeling. After all, it is so much easier to have someone else do the hard work for you. However, the way, the truth and the life is not the conference itself; it is the Living Word of God, Jesus. As the speakers are declaring the Word, use that time to reflect. After the event is over, review and reflect. If you have received a rhema or a revelation, then even more so, review and reflect. Keep reviewing and revisiting the points by meditating upon these and praying through. What did God say? What does it really mean? What does He want you to do with it?
RESPOND This, to me, is the most important point. Whilst it does happen, it is not enough to just make your way to the front to receive a touch, to shed a tear, or to spend some time on the floor. To respond really means to put into action all that has been received at the conference after the conference is over. No point leaving only with another conference booklet with blanks filled in and another name tag to add to your collection. Don’t make the mistake of being a hearer of the Word and not become a doer, deceiving yourself. It is not the number of conferences you have been to, or how many great speakers you have heard. It is what you do with what you have received that truly matters.
As we have already established, there are just so many Christian conferences and seminars in Singapore. Add to these, Church-based training and programmes, and we Singaporean believers are, without doubt, spoilt for choice. I pray that the above points would be helpful for you as you consider what to do with that conference flyer you are holding in your hand, or those invitation emails that just arrived in your inbox. [Of course, if it’s from me, you should register immediately – haha!]
Let me close with this verse that describes the explosion of information in the end times, often taken to refer to global travel and the knowledge-based internet economy of our days:

“But you, Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book until the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall increase.” Daniel 12:4

I can’t help but wonder if this might, in actuality, be describing the running to and fro of God’s people from meeting to meeting, seminar to seminar, conference to conference, and the knowledge that is ever increasing and abounding? If so, oh Lord, by Your grace, may we have the fruit to show for it.

AAA Seminar in Philippines: Kidapawan City Assembly of God Church Shares

Senior Pastor Joel Acaso (first from right) with TEAM ARCHIPPUS

TEAM ARCHIPPUS travelled to Philippines to declare the message of Archippus Awakening in Kidapawan City through the “Awakened Aligned Assigned” Seminar (3 & 4 May 2018), in partnership with Kidapawan City Assembly of God Church. We give God all glory for His enablement and all He has done in the lives of our Pinoy brothers and sisters!
“As a pastor, Archippus Awakening helped me a lot in terms of giving me a sense of direction with regards to equipping God’s armies in our local church. When a fresh revival came last year, I knew in my heart God wants to accomplish something through His people for our city and perhaps for the entire province. And I know it won’t be possible without the people aligning to the person of God. Thus, intimacy before ministry was what stands out to me all through the time of the conference. All glory be unto God!” Senior Pastor Joel Acaso

“I am truly awakened. And now I see the real value of my salvation. And it’s not all about getting to heaven. I am saved for HIS purpose while waiting for HIS second coming.” Beth Riola

“Archippus Awakening really awakened me in many aspects of my relationship with God. I really thought that I was already a “Good Christian” because I was always in church, attending services, being in the Worship Team, doing little chores, etc. I thought I was there. I thought God was already pleased with me. But ever since this event, I was awakened about how much I lack as a true follower of Christ. A lot has changed within the way I think and see things. I now see a glimpse of what God is doing in order to shape me into what He wants me to be. There are lots of things I want to say. I pray that the Archippus Awakening movement would awaken more souls like me who hungers to be aligned with God more.” Jasper Teope

“To respond to God’s call is hard, but discerning where God wants you to be seems harder. This is a common struggle in Christians, especially when one decides to respond to the call of the ministry. When we speak of the ministry we usually limit it to children’s ministry, music ministry, evangelism, etc. Our minds are so confined in the four corners of the church when in fact, God has called us, Christians to a much bigger mission field, which is the Kingdom and not just the church. We need the church though, for this is our Assembly Area where we are awakened, aligned, refined, empowered and assigned. After going through these processes, we are then sent out to our respective assignments for we are not meant to just keep on receiving but designed to feed and be a channel of God’s goodness. We are called to do the work of the kingdom which is to preach the gospel to all nations and that includes our workplaces, families, friends and schools – if we are studying.” Vonkluck Herrera

“Awakened! Aligned! Assigned! I’m so blessed and thankful that I was able to join the Archippus Awakening seminar. I thought my Christian life before was ok but then I was wrong. I learned how to step out of my comfort zone. The good news of the kingdom is not just about the salvation, so live your life with the right purpose. That intimacy and a quiet time with the Lord is a must. Intimacy before ministry! As Pastor Henson said, ‘Focus on the aligning and let God do the assigning.’ Consider that you are not your own but His . Finish the race, Juls! And go for gold. This seminar has really made a big impact to my Christian journey.” Juliana Mei Kian

Team Archippus Takeaways: David & Aaron

More than just going to Kidapawan City to serve and give, Team Archippus also learnt and received much. Be encouraged by their reflections as they moved on kingdom assignment for Jesus.

“Every time I go to the Philippines and subsequently go home, I find myself wanting to go back, and this time was no different. I went on this trip wondering what I was going there for, and came back having had the most enjoyable weekend of my year so far. I’ve only known these people for three days, but it feels like I’ve known them my whole life. Singapore has so much to learn from the Philippines. And I have so much to learn from them as well.”

“Knowing my Dad would be in need of a photographer for this trip to the Philippines, I decided to help out. When I arrived at the Philippines, I already had the assumption that this was going to be like any regular trip. It turns out that I was wrong. Unlike any other trip, I had the opportunity to interact with the Filipino youth in the church, and as we talked and played games, I was really blessed by them. And when I watched the whole church worship, I could see they were doing it with all their heart. I have really been blessed by them and I do not regret coming at all!”
