AAKO Hong Kong: A Small Step of Obedience, A Great Leap in God’s Kingdom

By Ruby Woo

In Ruby’s own words, she took “just a small step of obedience” to echo the message of Archippus Awakening (AA) recently. By God’s grace, we know that it was a great leap in God’s kingdom.

Ruby completed her six-month Mentoring Aligning Process (MAP) journey in March 2021. She is one of the first overseas MAPpers. She testified that before embarking on the MAP journey, she never imagined that she could experience such impactful paradigm shifts in her walk with God. Everything in her Christian life became so different after she has a kingdom perspective in studying the Word of God.  Previously, she found it so hard to actively align with God’s commands, especially when it does not make sense or goes against her wishes or preferences.  Since being equipped with the kingdom mindset, one thing that Ruby has done differently is to follow Jesus as her King.  As it is so logical that a kingdom subject aligns with the King, she has come to realize that obedience is essentially about alignment with Jesus so as to embrace the changes she does not desire or understand.

Be encouraged as you catch a glimpse into Ruby’s journal on a candid and powerful account of what God has done in and through her as she echoes the message of Archippus Awakening.

It is very true that God will reveal more of our misalignments as we are moving on our assignments. While I did sense that God has invited me to establish AAKO HK (Archippus Awakening Kingdom Outpost Hong Kong), I really had no idea how and where to begin proclaiming the AA message. I tried to invite the sisters in my Bible study group to join the various AA initiatives (AAA webinar, Alignment WeekEnd/AWE, and MAP) but their response was less than encouraging.

While I was so encouraged to see what God has done in AAKO Uganda, AAKO Philippines and AAKO Sandakan, I started to have some sort of identity crisis at the same time. I wondered how I could do such a great assignment on my own. I simply felt inadequate and wondered if God could really raise His army from the ground up. I also questioned if I had heard God accurately.

But I pressed on. I had invited two of my contacts, Anna and Carol, who are already on board the MAP (Mentoring Aligning Process) journey and my timeline is to wait and see if they will also see AAKO as their assignments after they have completed MAP. Another reason I persist is the encouragement I receive from the teaching of the Alignment Check framework. It has helped me so much!

On 10 November 2021, miraculous events started to unfold. One of the ladies was going to host a fellowship meeting at her place. To my very surprise, she texted me and invited me to share about Alignment Check at the meeting. At that time, I was somehow hesitant to accept the invitation. I was still struggling with so many misalignments and simply lacked the faith to move on.

The Lord encouraged me with His Word through Pastor Henson’s teaching in KINGDOM101. In his teaching on Matthew 9 about the healing story of a paralytic who was brought before Jesus by four friends, I learnt that the four friends believed enough to get this man to Jesus, even if it meant cutting the queue and the roof. What Pastor Henson taught about the facts of faith is that someone else’s faith is still faith. So, I decided to do this assignment by borrowing faith from my dear Archippuses from the nations.

Moreover, the Lord empowered me using Matthew 11:28-30. “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”

After listening to Ps Henson’s teaching, the Lord comforted me that Jesus will be the other One under the yoke, besides being the One directing and steering the yoke.

On top of these, what really spurred me on were Pastor James’ and Sister Lay Leng’s prayers and encouragement, which were always so timely and heart-warming. Brother Juuko’s passion for the kingdom is another faith booster to me. I can almost feel the heat of the fire in his heart from afar. I am so privileged to be part of this kingdom community.

As I was preparing for the slides on the 1-2-3-4 message (1 Message 2 Verses 3 Words 4 Traits), I listened, read, and ate the message all over again. Through this process, the message permeated into my spirit and not until that moment did I genuinely own the traits of an Archippus and finally became bold enough to proclaim it.

AAKO HK First Meeting
It was God’s appointed date to declare this eleventh-hour message on the 11 Dec 2021. I am so honored to declare the message to seven sisters at the session. God indeed orchestrated the whole sharing. I did not discuss with Carol beforehand to share her MAP journey. After reading whatsapp messages from Pastor Susheel and Sister Lay Leng at around 5:30pm. I sensed in my spirit that more words were going to be released but by that time I had already finished the sharing. Upon the prompting of the Holy Spirit, I decided to “bombard” my sisters again on the AA message after dinner. Praise the Lord. It was in this part two of the sharing that Carol shared her newly found kingdom assignment. I praise God for giving the assignment to Carol just a few days before the sharing. Her sharing could really touch the sisters’ hearts and that had led to an even more fruitful discussion afterwards. God ‘s provision is always just in time.

O What God has Done through Me
On hindsight, I have experienced one of the important kingdom principles spelt out in Matthew 13:31-32.

“The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and sowed in his field, which indeed is the least of all the seeds; but when it is grown it is greater than the herbs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and nest in its branches.”

Just as what Pastor Henson taught, “Sometimes it is not about what you do for the kingdom, but what the kingdom does to you and then finally through you.”

Jesus, our King, is so patient with me and has assigned different people and many circumstances to help me with my re-alignment and refinement process. God is really our loving King who knows all our needs even before we ask Him. What I did was just a small step of obedience. I pray that, by God’s strength, it will be a great leap in God’s kingdom. To God be the glory for all He has done.
